Hartshead

Hartshead is a village located West of Dewsbury near Hartshead Moor.

Hartshead is a village in the county of West Yorkshire, West of Dewsbury and near Hartshead Moor.
The village has pre-Norman Conquest origins; the Walton Cross dated from the 8th century.
The Reverand Patrick Brontë met his wife Maria Branwell here in 1811, whilst he was parson of St Peter's Church. They were married in Guiseley and became the parents of Anne Brontë, Charlotte Brontë and Emily Brontë.
Kirklees Hall is located between Hartshead and the nearby village of Clifton. The reputed burial site of Robin Hood is near Hartshead, although the exact place is not known, as the gravestone has been moved at least 3 times.
There are many reputed hauntings in this area especially relating to the local public house, The Three Nuns. There are also reputed hauntings related to a public house, The New Inn, which has now been converted into apartments
