Hebden Bridge developed in late medieval times as a river crossing and meeting point between Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Hebden Bridge developed in late medieval times as a river crossing and meeting point between Yorkshire and Lancashire. Its most significant growth came in the latter part of the 18th Century with the advent of Steam Power. Traditional industries are no longer a major force but the recent revitalisation of Hebden Bridge with a flourishing Town Centre packed with a mix of traditional independent retail outlets, cafés and restaurants, with its stunning rural surroundings makes it a very popular place both to live and visit.

Cragg Vale & Mytholmroyd
– famous for the gang of the 18th Century Coin Counterfeiters, this delightful Valley offers good walking and tranquil surroundings. Mytholmroyd is the birthplace of Poet Laureate, Ted Hughes.

Hardcastle Craggs
– know as ‘Little Switzerland’, this beautiful wooded Valley is owned by the National Trust and extends up the Valley out of Hebden Bridge.

Heptonstall Village
– forms an outstanding unspoilt example of a hilltop rural settlement overlooking the Pennine centre of Hebden Bridge.
